a gentle breeze | nv white wine

an ever-evolving blend of chenin, chardonnay, pinot blanc and melon de bourgogne

i had the good fortune of spending a season working in the jura in 2022. it is a region that has always served as a great source of inspiration, and one that never ceases to amaze me. how can one craft something like vin jaune - a wine aged for such a great length of time - and maintain such force, energy, and freshness? it wasn’t until i went there and tasted the food, met the people, and smelled the air, that the wines fully made sense to me. i recall standing on an old dirt road, sandwiched between two fields of sunflowers, gazing up towards one of my friend’s vineyards. as i stood there taking in the scene, the faintest scent of bruised apples wafted through the air. who is to say what really causes the aura and power of wine from this region…but in that moment, it felt that it had to, in part, be an influence of the gentle breeze passing through the vineyard and whatever magic it brought along with it.
